After nearly two years of quarantine due to the pandemic, during which time travel to other countries was prohibited, we learned that there is great splendor right here at home. These 13 destinations don't require a passport, so you can leave yours at home and enjoy a tropical vacation, a winter wonderland vacation, a girls' trip, or a family vacation.

We're highlighting some of the most beautiful hotels and resorts in each area, as well as those that offer special opportunities to learn about the local culture through excursions. Not a resort person It's easier to see everything in one trip when you rent a van, and Peace Vans can do just that with their restored Volkswagen Vanagons.

When you step out onto Venice Pier, you might as well be a surfer hovering over the water in search of the perfect wave. A stretch of beach connecting Santa Monica and Manhattan Beach, where the options for fun are virtually limitless.

The Venice V, a brand-new boutique hotel on the boardwalk that perfectly captures the spirit of this West Coast neighborhood, is a great option. Awaken to the sound of crashing waves and then take a stroll along the beach just outside your door.

Marfa, Texas, with a population of 1,831, is the ideal small town arts hub. Long stretches of desert road put you in touch with nature despite your remote location. After beginning his minimalist art movement in New York, Donald Judd moved to Marfa, where he set up many permanent installations that are still on view today.

The Hotel Paisano, conveniently located in the heart of town, boasts a rich history in addition to its distinctive Western-style architecture. During their six weeks of filming Giant in 1955, the entire cast and crew called the hotel home. This included Elizabeth Taylor and James Dean.

Greenery and moss cover every available surface in the Hoh Rainforest, making it look like something out of The Hobbit. This is one of only five rainforests in America, and it is absolutely breathtaking. Lake Crescent is another beautiful spot on the Olympic Peninsula, perfect for a day of swimming and exploring the surrounding wilderness.

Lodging options include Seattle, Washington's Peace Vans, which offers a fleet of vintage Volkswagen Vanagons for rent to intrepid travelers. It's the best way to take in the sights of the Olympic Peninsula and connect with nature.

Hawaii, the 50th state of the United States, is the most tropical one due to its location and year of admission. Maui, the second largest island in Hawaii, is home to beautiful scenery and sacred sites, such as Iao Valley. Haleakal National Park is a great place to catch the sun going down (or rising) and maybe even a rainbow.

The Grand Wailea Maui Resort has a 2,000-foot pool with connected water slides and swing sets, making it ideal for family vacations. At check-in, kids are given a Grand Passport to use as a guide while discovering the resort.

In this actual snow globe, you can go skiing or curl up with a mug of hot cocoa by the fire. Skiers and those just looking for a relaxing winter vacation should consider visiting Park City, Utah. Small-town charm abounds on Main Street, where buildings from the 19th century house trendy eateries and boutiques.

After a day on the slopes, the Waldorf Astoria Park City is the ideal place to unwind and refuel. The hotel's location among the Wasatch Mountains provides breathtaking scenery. Having a jacuzzi in your room is a nice bonus.

Just in case you didn't know, U.S. citizens don't need passports to travel to Puerto Rico. The original pia colada was created in Puerto Rico, and the island's vibrant capital city has no shortage of places to enjoy one. Hiking and exploring lush greenlands are just a short drive from San Juan.

The Caribe Hilton, situated on a peninsula with a private beach and close to Old San Juan, is a great place to stay. You can spend the day doing whatever you like, from relaxing on the beach to window shopping in the city.

As the "Luckiest Fishing Village in the World," Destin, Florida, has quite the reputation. The beaches are lovely for basking in the sun or losing yourself in a good book, and the emerald waters are great for fishing.

Places to stay include the brand new and kid-friendly The Henderson, a Salamander Beach & Spa Resort. Guests can take part in a glassblowing class, ride bikes along the trails, or relax with a drink at Destin's first rooftop bar, in addition to enjoying the beautiful beach.

The red rocks around you might make you think you've landed on Mars. Those looking to get away from it all will find plenty to do here, from beautiful landscapes and exciting hikes to art galleries lining the charming main street. The most well-known trailhead is Devil's Bridge, but if you want to venture onto more rugged terrain, you may want to rent a Polaris ATV.

Among the beautiful desert landscape of Arizona is the Hilton Sedona at Bell Rock. The location is ideal for beginning the day's adventures or winding down with a nap by the pool.

Moab, Utah is one of those rare and wonderful places that retains the charm of a small town. The Delicate Arch, the most famous of Arches National Park's more than 2,000 arches, is located there. It's about a three-mile hike with a fantastic reward at the end.

The Hyatt Place Moab is the perfect place to rest your head at the end of a thrilling day of exploration. It’s only five miles from the Park and one mile from downtown, where you can check out local restaurants and shops

Visit Chattanooga, Tennessee, when the din in Nashville becomes intolerable. Hiking along the Tennessee River and in the vicinity of the Appalachian Mountains is beautiful at any time of year, but especially in the fall when the leaves change color. Lookout Mountain, site of a Civil War battle, is just one of many trails.

Bode Chattanooga is a great place to stay for any kind of trip, whether you're in town for a few days or planning to settle in for a while. It is smack dab in the middle of all the action downtown.

We trust you've been preparing for your time in the woods As the site of the 1980 Winter Olympics, it has become a popular training ground for athletes. The summers, while just as picturesque as the winters, are spent at the lake or enjoying ice cream on Main Street's colorful history.

The Lake House Hotel is like staying in your own private cabin, but it's actually a hotel. The balcony looks out over the lake (hence the name), and the interior is decorated with woodsy furnishings and decor, with a massive fireplace in the lobby.

Seaside, Florida is well-known due to its use as a filming location for The Truman Show, starring Jim Carrey. Spears Group founder Jonathan Spears says, "Seaside has beautiful white sand, emerald green water beaches and was born around the new urbanism concept, which means you can arrive at your destination and you don't have to get in a car again." There is no need to look any further. ”

You can stay at the WaterColor Inn, which is conveniently located near the center of Seaside, or you can rent a cottage nearby. Both feel like you've stepped into a beachside resort, and both put you close to the sand.

Mendenhall Glacier, which looks like it could be in Antarctica, is actually located in Juneau, Alaska. Wildlife, fishing trips, hiking glaciers, and even whale watching tours can all be enjoyed by guests in this area of wilderness.

There aren't a ton of options for lodging in Juneau, but the Travelodge by Wyndham is a nice place to relax after a day of exploring the outdoors. This spot is perfect because of its proximity to both the sea and the mountains.
