One of the best ways to enjoy the coldest season in the United States is with a trip to Vermont. Vermont is a small state in New England well-known for its stunning natural beauty, beautiful trails for hiking, and, of course, maple syrup.
However, if you travel there in the winter, you will find that it is a fantastic place to ski, snowshoe, and ride snowmobiles. To appreciate the winter landscape and, of course, the snow, you can also go on a few winter hikes. The Robert Frost Wayside Trail and the Spruce Peak Trail are two of the best routes in the area, but you should always pack for the possibility of bad weather.
Vermont winters are known for their snow.
In order to see as much of the state as possible, a road trip is the best option. A Vermont winter vacation isn't complete without trips to the Mad River Valley, Burlington, Montpellier, Stowe, and Woodstock. You can take a tour of Ben & Jerry's, eat some of America's famous grilled cheese sandwiches, and shop at a variety of local markets, making these destinations ideal for any gourmet. Consider visiting a few of the area's breweries or maple syrup operations as well.
Also, if you go in January, you can experience the Stowe Winter Carnival, see Burlington decked out in holiday lights, and warm up with a spa day.
There's something for everyone in Vermont this time of year, whether you're traveling solo, with a partner, or with the whole family.
