Playa Herradura is also noteworthy, situated just over 10 minutes' drive north of Jaco. Tamarindo Beach

San José

San José is likely to be your first encounter in Costa Rica after arriving at the airport. While most travelers do not spend much time here, the city is buzzing with energy and offers numerous eco-friendly attractions within reach. Poas Volcano, known for its turquoise caldera lake, and La Paz Waterfall Gardens, a paradise of cascading waterfalls, are just a short distance away.

The heart of San José lies along Avenida Central, a long boulevard that cuts through the city and connects key neighborhoods. The journey to Manuel Antonio takes you across the famous Rio Tarcoles, also known as Crocodile River, where you can witness the presence of massive American Crocodiles. We recommend parking along the road before the bridge and walking halfway down for the best view. Don't forget to capture this incredible sight with your camera!
