Spring is an excellent time to take a trip, whether you're still enjoying the last days of winter or counting down the days until summer. The cherry blossoms in Washington, DC, the late-season skiing in New Hampshire, and the European adventure in Switzerland are just a few of the options. Here are 11 of the best vacation spots to get you thinking about your next trip. Here are some of the top destinations in the United States and beyond for the month of March.

Until about the middle of April, New Hampshire's ski season is in full swing, making March a fantastic time to visit due to the abundance of snow and typically lower late-season prices. There are plenty of ways to enjoy the snow even if you don't ski, and lodging options range from luxury resorts to home and cabin rentals. More than 90 sugarhouses in New Hampshire welcome visitors during the month of March for Maple Month. Tree-spotting, maple-syrup-tapping, horse-drawn-wagon rides, and maple syrup tasting are just some of the interactive events that take place at this festival.

Macon's moniker and its location both refer to it as "The Heart of Georgia." From Mar The city of Yoshino, Japan, is home to over 350,000 cherry trees, and every year from April 17-26, the International Cherry Blossom Festival is held to celebrate the blossoming of these trees. Pink is used to decorate everything from donuts to grits to store windows to trash cans to tostadas to ice cream. Macon, Georgia is home to the country's newest national park and preserve, Ocmulgee Mounds National Historic Park, which is located along the banks of the Ocmulgee River.

Fort Lauderdale, with its low 80s temperatures, miles of waterways, fantastic restaurants, and diverse lodging options, is the ideal March vacation spot. Take a Water Taxi and relax with a drink as you cruise Fort Lauderdale's waterways, or go window shopping on Las Olas Boulevard, people-watch along the downtown Riverwalk, or learn about local artists' works in FATVillage. Visit the NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale or the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. The Dalmar, Fort Lauderdale; Four Seasons Hotel and Residences; Ritz-Carlton, Fort Lauderdale; Sonder at Riverwalk; are just some of the hotels in the area.

The calendar says spring begins in March, but the weather in Norway is often unpredictable, even as the days grow longer and the temperature rises. Take a fjord cruise, go spring skiing in the mountains, or check out the new National Museum of Norway in Oslo, the country's capital. About 575 miles southeast of Miami in the Caribbean, Turks and Caicos is made up of the Turks Islands (including Grand Turk and Salt Cay) and the Caicos Islands (including the main tourism island of Providenciales, along with around 100 other islands and cays). March in Turks and Caicos is pleasant, with highs in the low 80s and a reputation for beautiful beaches and clear water teeming with marine life and high-end resorts. Skiers will find this stunning country to be a haven, with a wide variety of excellent resort towns to explore. More than 100 miles of slopes can be found in Andermatt, and the charming village is home to the five-star The Chedi Andermatt. March is a great time to visit Charleston because spring has sprung by then and the weather is mild and the flowers are in bloom. There will be a Food & Wine Festival in March. 1–5, and all over Charleston, you can find excellent southern specialties and delectable seafood. On a springtime rainy day in Charleston, you can take in some of the city's rich history at one of the city's many museums. You can stay at The Mills House and be within walking distance of museums, boutiques, and restaurants in the city's historic district. The Vendue has a rooftop bar with breathtaking views of the city and harbor, in addition to its original artwork. The Pinch is a brand-new, high-end boutique hotel, and the nearby The Loutrel and Zero George are also great options.

Early March in the nation's capital is still a bit chilly, making it an ideal time to visit the city's museums. There's a wide variety of museums at the Smithsonian, from the Portrait Gallery to the National Air and Space Museum. There are many celebrations and museum exhibits dedicated to women's history throughout the month of March to honor their achievements. The year 2023 will honor women in the media with the theme "Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories." We'll be celebrating the cherry blossoms in March at the annual National Cherry Blossom Festival. 20-Apr Yoshino cherry blossoms typically reach their peak on March 16. Lodging options in the nation's capital C consist of the recently opened Pendry Washington DC at The Wharf, in addition to the InterContinental, Thompson, Hotel Washington, and Ritz-Carlton Georgetown.

If you're thinking about taking a road trip this spring, one option is the Central Coast of California. Take Highway 1 and enjoy the scenery while you eat at a roadside restaurant. Picnic among the vineyards and sample wines in Paso Robles for a relaxing day out in the sun. The Hotel Cerro is a great place to stay in the heart of San Luis Obispo, with a spa and a rooftop bar where you can watch the sunset. Santa Barbara is home to beautiful beaches and a charming downtown area. From Mar The Ritz-Carlton Bacara will be hosting the World of Pinot Noir on February 2–4, but if you are unable to attend, don't worry; you can find excellent pinot noir all year round in the region. The Inn at Mattei's Tavern opens in February in Los Olivos; it was a stagecoach stop in the 1880s. The perfect pit stop involves eating outside or lounging around a fire pit.

Loreto, on the east coast of Baja California Sur, attracts whales every year between January and March, when the whales give birth, nurse their calves, and then return to the Arctic. A variety of whale species, including humpbacks, finbacks, orcas, and gray whales, are known as the original "snowbirds" because they migrate south to the warmer Sea of Cortez during the winter. Loreto Bay National Marine Park and Hotel La Mision are just two of the many attractions in the historic town of Loreto, as well as a wide selection of restaurants and lodging options. Villa del Palmar, on the Islands of Loreto, is an all-inclusive resort with access to TPC Danzante Bay and breathtaking views of the Sea of Cortez.

The French name for this tiny island is Saint Barths or Saint Barthélemy, the island is stunning with its clear blue waters, white sand beaches, and opulent hotels. From Mar There will be a variety of yacht races and social events during the 16–19th annual St. Barts Bucket Regatta.
