Serengeti National Park - Tanzania and Kenya
One of the most awe-inspiring natural events in the world takes place in the vast open plains of Serengeti National Park, spanning both Tanzania and Kenya. Witnessing the Wildebeest Migration is a truly remarkable experience. Every year, over a million wildebeest and zebra embark on a treacherous journey towards greener pastures. This mass movement is filled with tension, as the herbivores are closely trailed by numerous predators hoping to capitalize on the weakness of stragglers. To observe this phenomenon from a unique perspective, consider taking a hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti.
Masai Mara National Reserve - Kenya
Kenya's remarkable Masai Mara National Reserve is truly a spectacle to behold and is often considered a counterpart to the Serengeti. In fact, the two are connected. Regarded as one of the best wildlife viewing destinations on the entire continent, the Masai Mara offers an incredible experience. During a safari in the Masai Mara, we had the opportunity to witness the famous Big 5 animals. Additionally, we had the extraordinary adventure of taking a hot air balloon flight over the Masai Mara, an experience that led us to land in Tanzania. The Masai Mara is undeniably one of the most stunning destinations in Africa.
Lake Nakuru - Kenya
Lake Nakuru in Kenya is widely regarded as one of the finest destinations on the continent for observing rhinos in their natural habitat. When we visited the Ngorongoro Crater, it felt as though we were stepping into a fairytale. Thousands of animals roamed the area, with zebras prancing and lions stealthily stalking their prey. It was a truly magical experience. The Ngorongoro Crater remains one of our favorite destinations from our African Safari in Tanzania. Virunga National Park - Rwanda and Uganda
The Virunga Mountains, stretching across the borders of Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, are a chain of captivating volcanic peaks. These mountains owe their breathtaking beauty to their lush and fertile slopes. Notably, the Virunga Mountains serve as the last remaining habitat for the critically endangered mountain gorillas. We had the privilege of meeting Ian Redmond, one of the world's foremost gorilla experts, during our travels in India. Since then, we have been captivated by the idea of encountering these magnificent creatures firsthand. Although we have yet to visit the gorillas, our conversations with both Ian Redmond and officials from Rwanda Tourism have provided us with extensive knowledge about these incredible beings. Furthermore, Virunga National Park and the Virunga Mountains are home to other fascinating animals, including chimpanzees, forest elephants, and okapis, which are similar to giraffes but possess shorter legs and necks, as well as striped legs.
